Journalist Falls Victim to Insecurity in Afghanistan

An afghan journalist working for a Canadian TV News channel (shown in the picture) was shot dead by unidentified armed men in the southern city of Kandahar.

“Javed Ahmad, afghan journalist, was shot dead in Kandahar” confirmed the interior ministry officials. No one has claimed responsibility and the culprits are stil at bay. The Ministry has launched an investigation into the matter.

Eye witnesses reported that the place where Javed Ahmad was killed is located pretty close to the governmental buildings, such as, the provnicial council and offices of national security i.e., the spying agency of Afghanistan.

The same journalist was captured by the American forces a year and half ago on charges of helping Taliban. He was kept in the notorious Bagram Airbase for about 11 months. When he was released then, he had said that he was badly tortured while in American captivity.

Yeah Ghaznawy,

Jouranlists sometimes display extreme cases of diligence. Just last month, a pakistani journalist was shot in swat valley while he was covering the swat peace deal with taliban. In fact, the region is becoming more dangerous for journalists these days.
