The highly sophisticated tactics applied by the terrorists in attacks on Sri Lankan cricketers on 3rd of March must have surprised everyone. However, our intelligence agencies had done even a better job than them. They had already reported chances of such potential threats. In the light of recent political turmoil in the country Lahore had already become a favorite site for attacks by the terrorist outfits but no one would expect a cricket team to be the victim since sports is the spirit of peace and harmony.

The report and documentary evidence published by the daily THE NEWS on its issue of 4th of March (Today) clearly indicates that such attacks were in the good knowledge of the law enforcing agencies. However, not enough security measures were put in place to make sure the visiting team is secured. The vigilance shown by the police on the eve of attacks was undoubtedly truly professional and heroic. However, the report indicates that had proper measures been taken before such incidents could have been avoided quite easily. The report also mentions India’s intelligence agency RAW for intending and designing such an attack. Citing various reasons, the report as pasted above in pictorial form indicates that if taken true, RAW carried out the attacks quite successfully and the Pakistani law enforcement agencies failed badly to hinder such an attack.

The most interesting point yet is that no Pakistani political leadership has named India for having a direct hand or role in these attacks. However, the interior Minister did point at the possibility of foreign hands behind the attacks. For now and for sure, the report which was worked out so intelligently failed so badly. Bad luck to the guys who worked day and night for accuracy of the report but their report fell on deaf ears.
